I could work at other jobs... cleaner jobs... yet I have turd factory skills that are in demand... these skills give me the ability to earn more than the normal wage... being kinda specialized is nice when the skills are in demand... I learned these skills to earn more money... I make about 25% more an hour cause I understand the way a digester works... and why a clarifier needs to be REAL close to round...

I recently have come to the understanding the invasion from the south isnt going to end any time soon.

the last 2 houses sold near me sold to folks who speak very little english. I now have neighbors that play according/tuba music till the wee hours of the night. the local bill boards no longer cry out their adds for lawyers willing to sue anything... or divorce on the cheap.... they are mcdonalds offering some mysterious items in another language. there is something about a television program at 8 on domingo. heck I dont know the product in most cases.

the local stores are changing. the drugstore on the corner left and was replaced by a thrift store. the grocery store closed recently . the competition from the carencida/marketeria (sp?)must have been too much. we no longer have a tacobell / mcdonalds/ dairy queen/ burger king.... in their place we have a filiberto's , arizona tortas, a taco shop, a pan dulce/almost dohnut joint. the local baseball card shop left and a cheap $10 and up vacumn bussiness opened in that spot.

the bussiness moves are not the issues of my gripe. and on to my gripe...
if you go to the local taco shop... ZERO of the adds or menu are in english. none! yet they have been in business for 4 years on this corner. they must be doing okay if not well. in the parking lot the vehicle of choice seems to be a new truck... on the street there are signs with a weird gang message " compro casa tel# 123-123-1234"

the folks I get cable tv from sell local commercials.... the family biker leather shop has some holsom commercials on where and how to buy new leathers... but not long ago the cable company started doing commercials in another language... something woman with a smoking hood open car... who later drives off in a shinny new truck.

I stoped buying my morning munchie from jack in the box the day the oumpha/oumpha music from jacks was annonying a block away... and I mean from inside jacks not a car... the morning crew usually playes hispanic music... and I mean real loud now and then... heck I no longer drive that way for that very reason...

the closest mcdonnalds just like jacks is no longer filled with high school students... but rather a middle aged less than slim group of heavy makeup using women that often have trouble with english... if these women had been US citizens for any lenght of time wouldnt you expect that their english would be understandable?

so I have estabilished my little world is under siege...

imagine....
when the next economic down turn comes... will the average invader just give up the nearly payed off truck? will he/she worry about creditors? I doubt it... I see a mass exodious of not quite payed off trucks / washingmachines/ big screen tv's/ and everything else you and pay on credit put in the trucks... all headed south...

this might be a good thing... but the injury it will cause is real and large...the bottom of the local realestate will fall out... imagine hundreds if not thousands or even hundred of thousands of houses with no loan payers..

who is going to bail out all these finance companies? yeah we the real american citizens will have to pay off the debits of the jerks that made this invasion possible...


so from this small spot. in the under seige city of phoenix. I would like to call on law enforcement officals. I would like to plead with them... if possible think about the time in the near future when it isnt easy for the invaders to find a job.... please head off the trouble now... enforce the ins stuff... the laws about employment address the very problems I spoke of. but they are not enforced...

why?
cause the very folks that make their living from the invaders are the same folks that run the politics.

snake wanted some "experiences" posted on here about our WoW escapades........i guess i'll start out with a series of these posts with some stuff eh? So i started playing late april, only been playing 25 days according to my ingame timer, but it seems like so much longer than that (maybe has something to do with the ridiculous hours i spend on it :P) So much has happened since i started that it keeps my interest so much i can tune out the rest of the world. hehe, good for all those phone calls and texts messages..... So getting down to the nitty gritty.......Every class in WoW has a "set" for them when they get to lvl 51 and higher...well thanks to Gwiri i had the "wildheart" gloves when i was 48, so i had them waiting for me....So now i am lvl 56, and i've done several Undead Stratholome instances trying to get something else i could use....the raid groups (more than the usual five, in this case 10) that we're usually in are great....dont need communication cause people know exactly what to do in every part of the instance.....well this wasn't the case yesterday... :( we had a leaderless leader, several non-leader leaders, couple of negotiations experts and then the usual ignorant ones that dont listen.....then there was snake......so we roll through with me dying cause of dumb people not doing their job (actually, i usually die everytime, it's the curse of being a kick butt healer)....we get to the last boss and he drops like he has every other time i've been in there (i scared him with my guns when i flexed)....and up on my screen drops my WILDHEART kilt!!! woohoo...anyway, now on to my bracers, belt, chest, shoulders and head piece........you can see it here.......... http://www.thefunnyfarm.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=92914#92914

So lazz and I attempt to goto the computer swap meet in AZ here today, on the third Sunday of the month. I am pumped cuz im thinking were going to get some good deals on things.. So we get all the way there at about 5am after driving an hour, and there isnt a soul in the parking lot where its supposed to be. We just assumed that may 23 would have been the 3rd sunday of the month.. So I look down on my cell's calendar and its the 4th sunday of the month.. sooo needless to say it was a bad day..

evening.... its been a while, but i was looking on blues and found that there will be a NEW Enemy Territory! way to go splash damage. i stepped away from the community for a while (thanks to my defunct video card) but i have to say, some of the games i've played here have been amongst the best in my gaming life. so here's to the future. I was more foolish than normal recently.... I wanted to make use of some of the new hosts options.... and after reading the help file I thought I had an idea how to set things up... silly me....

when things didnt work I fired off a please help me email...which never got answered... not it or any of the others I sent... then I sent off a user ticket to tech support... I would have rather not gotten an answer than the one it sent me.... the new host has a live help chat thing... and I signed on... the original person assured me the techs would have it fixed soon... that was tuesday... so friday I tried the help chat thing again... they didnt answer the email... so I had no other option I am aware of...
after the second help chat chick told me mozilla was not a revelent browser and she was using IE and not having any of the problem I mentioned ....right then I knew I was in trouble... I reloaded IE.... (yuck!!) then I mentioned to the help person I was using a revelent browser and it didnt work.... after a long question and answer period she seemed to understand the issue... ua know I spent and hour 40 minutes onlive with this person... after splaining the issue for the too-many-th time I saw the answer... and in less than 10 minutes fixed it...

this issue took me over 4 hours of evenings I honestly dont have to spare right now... I miss the original host... ol phill charged me twice what I pay now.... but HE fixed everything in minutes... there were no unanswered emails... I dont mind giving money to someone I trust...

so here comes the next question.... I have a month or 2 before renew time... but I dont have time to spend on the site... do we look for a new host... or hang here for another year?

I spent a little over an hour chatting to miss olivia the other day.... all about ftp subaccounts... my question is why?

this afternoon I spent 1 hours and 41 minutes chating with dolly... thanks to her magic I all of a sudden had a reply to the user ticket... the techs said... and I quote.... err I would cut and paste but now I no longer have a user name.... yeah the user name I have had for 4 years no longer exists....the teck most kindly suggests I use IE to fix the relevent browser problem... yeah right ...

after about an hour and 14 minutes dolly stoped responding... then at 1
:41 she disconnected..... awww and nothin was resolved.....
so folks who knows how much longer anything will continue working.....

as of the first of the year my account has changed hands 4 times... hell I have no idea who is where.....

yeah I poped a breaker this evening... and just didnt move too fast... it was about an hour after the boo-boo mommie mentioned the ups beeping.... let this be a reminder to all you youngeresters... use hearing protection....

I had to get up very early to go to work. I have to tell you that for me
early might be something completely different from what others would think
is early. But anyhow I was on my bicycle on my way to work, when I saw a
lot of people moving around, walking to where ever they needed to go,
holding one or two children. You might think now: what’s strange about
that. Well you’re right that should be considered normal, people walking
their kids to school, especially if you live in a village or town where
the school is on walking distance from your home.


But why did this surprise me? What immediately got my attention was the
amount of people on the street. For me it was an amazing experience,
because I’m not used to be outside at that hour. I stopped and got off my
bicycle just to look at all those people and listen to the noises on the
street.


The result of these short, seemingly insignificant five minutes, was a
good feeling all day long. Just by acknowledging the fact that I can be
surprised with little things like that and allow myself to take time to
absorb it.


This got me thinking of how every person sees, feels and interprets the
things you experience differently. It all depends on your own way of
looking at it and how you take live as it comes.


Why am I telling you this? I have no idea!

I wrote a LONG LONG article about my day... and while reviewing the thing I decided it would be too easy for someone to link it to me... thus endangering my employment.... so instead Im gonna tell an old work related story...

over 20 years ago I smoked... cigars life was good... for those who dont know... now and then you will lay down a cigar and return to it in a few minutes... when things are busy ya might forget where ya layed the stoggie down... either way....

I was workin on a large job.... doing a very difficult job... I figured out a method of doing the job very fast.... when I started they had 3 crews doing this job 24 hours aday....and losing ground... I went to the office and splained I knew a better way.... so they gave me a small crew of 4 guys and a free hand for a week.... by the end of the week I had done more with the small crew than the other 3 crews did all week... I got the job of running that task.... :)

safety was a problem... I had a small crew to start... and it grew to 20 or so purdy fast... the management kept adding tasks ... I keep hiring folks... I take safety very seriously... as we performed our task my crew had instructions ... we had a fool proof method...

we were striping fliers... these were special fliers... imagine an object 20 feet wide... 40 feet long... and 20 feet high... on wheels... we had a thing called a tugger to pull this massive table around... due to the configuration of the building there were only 3 exits for the building... the building was 500 or so feet wide and nearly 1000 feet long... we pulled them tables a LONG distance some times....I would lower the table put it's wheels on it... move it to an exit... connect it to the crane who would move it to the next place then needed to make a floor/roof... on top of this it was 5 stories tall...we moved 10 or more tables a day... it was busy... we also had the easiest shade for the deck crews to hid in... that was a bad thing was bad.... when we lowered a table now and then sumthing would fall off...a beam end might come crashing to the ground... hey it happened...tools fell out ... trash came down... ya never knew what was gonna happen... we had safe places to shelter from the danger... before we droped anything we all made sure the call went out to take cover... in the year I worked there not one person on my crew was hurt because of our task...

the first near miss was with a roof crew... they came down to my area to take a break... we sent out the take cover call... I was not aware they were in my area... they didnt know what to do... a beam side fell... it smashed one guys lunch box... no one was hurt... thank goodness...
the next time was much worst...
we were riding the table to the exit... while moving a table we worked on it getting it ready for the crane to connect... it took 6 of us to drive/ride a table to the exit... and the last thing we did was tie on a rope to the table... a tag line... while we rode these table things would fall off now and then... but like normal... we knew the hazards... we were safe...

it was in the afternoon... after lunch... we had been movin tables for a couple of hours... on the trip back to the work area we found him... lying there in a pool of blood... who knows why he was there... he should not have been there... a 2 by 4 foot chunk of metal distroyed one of his kidneys... he nearly died...I knew the guy... and I felt bad... but in all honestly it wasnt my fault he ignored the warnings... this was a completely unnessary accident... it didnt have to happen...

so the company decided I would encircle an area... and anyone who entered my area without me being aware was fired...if another crew was breaking in our shade... it was fine... I didnt do anything to endanger them... it was a great plan... we had no injuries from that point on...

so now comes the story I was wanted to tell...
we were working one morning... and I sat down my cigar on a small raised floor section... I helped the guys lift a wheel and bolt it on... when I stood up and reached for my cigar... it was flat... what the heck... dang there was a stranger standing there... he was holding a broom... I asked if ne noticed my cigar... he said no... but he was sorry... I asked his name... he told me... I got on the radio... and called the office... I asked for his lay off... the office asked why... my reply was he steped on my cigar... after a few seconds the office replies okay...and they came to get him off site ...

then comes the good part... the labor union has a rep on the job site within the hour... I get called down to splain why I wanted a labor fired... I mentioned the guy steped on my cigar... the rep makes a negative comment about me smoking and offers to buy me a new cigar...

by then I was laughing... they thought I honestly wanted revenge for a flat cigar...it wasnt untill I mentioned the safety stuff anyone remembered the area restrictions... my office then got tough... the guy was fired and not gonna come back...


so for a few years I was known as the hard core dude that would fired ya for about anything...
while this story doesnt have alot in common with todays events... today also was a safety challenge....

has anyone ever noticed how easy your life can change... a simple phone call can change the way you live... the people you spend time with... a single phone call can change nearly anything in your life...

this is notice my life changed...
sometime this comming november I will become a grandfather... for several years I have been saying the only way I will become a grandparent is to buy some grandkids... my oldest daughter made the life changing phone call last night... and I am in shock... let me tell you... this is a good thing in my life... a very good thing...

Tonight we took a giant step forward on the home improvement front... the floor tile has been purchased... the money is spent... and tommorrow after work I will pick up the other 20 boxes of tile... Ohhh my poor back... we also decided on granite counter tops... not the solid stone ones with 1000's of dollars for the price tag... we are gonna use the granite tile... the one that only cost in the 100's ....

all thats left to buy is the cabinets...

and ti install of them goodies.... also a few can lights to replace those old style florescent...

well I have been asked enough time I feel the need to make a public statement...
yes folks things are calm for the moment... work regardless how evil it seems is still a nessity...

so I thought I would let ya in on my present possition...
I am responsible for 3 structures... and all their sub-structures... as of this afternoon that meant 11 projects... the list of resources I share with the other low level bosses is pages long... and incomplete as I finish it... by the time I type it all in something will have been stolen broken or lost...

I have 1 boss in the field and an uncountable number in the offices...

so you ask... what is so hard... let me tell ya some of what I do ...
I work for a construction company...and my basic job is to place concrete and let it get hard.... as much as I can... as fast as I can...
my work is inspected by a group of folks... the electrictions, the plumbers, the pipe fitters, the millwrights, and the 3 quality controls folks... and several of these report to the design company... I can not place any concrete untill I have everyones signature on the release slip... do you see how easy it would be for one of 8 or more folks to make my life hard?

I personaly know one of the designers... he is one of the higherups... he often informs me of changes made... he will be aware of a change made in the RIF's or RFA's... he tells me... and then tells the inspectors... the inspectors then expect me to include all changes... ( on a side note... the drawings I have been issued are dated 2 to 3 years old... the updated stuff he gives me is much newer... usually a year or less old...)

does anyone see the conflict? the people signing my paycheck want it built one way... and the people who allow me to place concrete want it built a different way...I spent a large percentage of my time colvertly trying to get updated drawings from my employers knowing I need to include the changes I have been made aware of... yet I can not let my bosses know I have an inside source...

So I have decided my possition isnt construction boss.... but rather pacifier....Too much of my day is spent negotiating for tools or resources... things like let me use it for 15 minutes and I wont need it the rest of the day.... I'll trade ya a plate tamp for a water truck....or who has a couple hundred feet of air hose I can use for an hour? after I get the stuff to do the job... then I must get the inspectors to sign the release...

did I mention I need to build stuff for everyone to inspect?

one of the reasons Im posting this is to go on record I have an inside source... and to mention the inspectors also aware of the changes.... they will not sign the release forms unless the changes are inculded.....so far I have been lucky and gotten drawings from my bosses... but my luck will run out someday... and Ill get caught... which will mean the end of my employment... if they sue me I thought this statement might help my case...

either way.... this is some of what I do all day long...
I also am a translator... a referee... and in general THE adult supervision about 30 guys get all day long....
ohhh and Im not griping... this is normal... nuthin new...

A time for change has come. It’s been stirring for a while but as of late it’s obvious we need to make some changes at the farm. Effective March 25 FFr will be merged into FFd. Going forward there will be 2 Official clan’s of the farm, iCs & FFd. (FFe will still be the outside battle clan)

The current active FFr member’s will be given access to the FFd forum and the FFr forum will be deleted in a week or so, once it can be gone through and important stuff saved. All FFr members should re-tag themselves to FFd.

I like to play multiplayer computer games... I like the person to person competition they offer... the tatics... the knowledge of the maps.. the fun... and the luck involved...
yet games get old... after months or even years the same ol stuff grows old for me...so I look for something new...which is where the problem lies...

let me take a minute here and discribe some stuff...
a while back the software police came knocking at my door... it seems someone was using my connection to trade files on usernet... I cured things in a hurry... this is exactly the thing I wish to never again go thru... so everything I can do will be as legal as I can...

which means I use linux to host... I have been doing that since carmack announced the first doom2 server would be linux only... ( that only lasted untill the M$ conference)... a while back I wanted to play a game so bad I bought a copy of win2k so I could host the game... and it was terrible... at that point of time the virus stuff alone was out ragious... yeah it sux to have a game server taken down because of virus stuff... and the attacks... it was a popular server so all the little script kiddies that got banned attacked it... at one point I was spending as much time keeping the server up as I was playing... not good... then was when I decided to never again host in windows... I gave away the copy of win2k and never looked back... to sum it up... no linux means we do not host it...

then we come to games... I pay for the game...1, 2 and some times 3 copies... then I install it ... that doesnt sound like too much to the average person... but it can be a total pain... after which I install a game server... that almost never happens without a hitch... there is nearly always something that stops the process... so I turn to the forums for help... and I meet 3 users there...

user #1... ( the suckups)this game is hot... it is the best thing since sliced bread... dont attack the develpoers... they are doing everything they need to ... yer a jeck if you cant get it going...

user #2... ( the know it alls) ya gotta reinstall the ati drivers to make a linux server start the game... yeah dood ... if that doesnt work reinstall the sound stuff to get it to work... ( swear I got both of those as advice)

user #3... ) the rare user) yeah I have the same problem... what can we do about it...

so after looking back over the past 10 years I can honestly say I get the best info reading thru the forums.. and I get into conflicts posting in forums... ETF for example... or red orchestra...

then comes the devolopers... I will refrain from naming names... I met and discuss very little with them... I have only had good experinces with 3 so far... everyone else has been a waste of my time trying to resolve anything... so I am reluctant to bother these days...


I pay to own a pay... I pay to host a game... and about all I ask is to enjoy the game... when I get a game up and running... tFF sells games... folks see their buddies playing the game... they wanna play it... we have friends... we sell games.. so it is in a developers best interest to see our server up and running... but it almost never happens that way...


I have lost alot of the patience I had in the past... I have tried to resolve a 1000 game server related issues... so folks when I go to a game forum asking for help...I am NOT asking for sexual favors... I am NOT asking for a refund of money.... I am asking for service on a product I bought... and that help seldom happens....

Yeah I would make a post about good things happening to me.... sure... I tempted fate....what a week... let me cry on your shoulder...

On monday the normal 17 minute commute only took an hour and a half... yeah 90 minutes instead of 17... I got stuck on a streach of freeway with no offramps... and a traffic accident ahead of me... when I finaly got past it my mood was better... but.. the very last stop light on the ride home was greeen... this never happens... I dont remember one time in the last 25 years I have been driving thru that intersection I made it on the green... this was as good as it gets... I was nearly to the crosswalk... and there they were... yeah two of em... thank goodness I noticed them and no one else was there... I slamed on the brakes and got totaly sideways... I mean major panic stop... why would I do that? cause 2 complete idiots were jaywalkin about 30 feel from the crosswalk... yeah they were crossing on a red light... so I got stoped I noticed I missed both of them... then when I looked they fliped me off... jezz... what a way to end a monday...

then wensday comes around... whats so special about wensday you ask... thats the day the city of phoenix did a water advisory... yeah they said there could be a problem with the water.... it might be a good idea to boil it before drinking... ohh fun... I wont even discuss my opinion... if ya drink out of a garden hose... that was about how polluted the water might have been... thursday morning the local convinent store didnt have coffee... grrrrr I need coffee... so I traveled to anthem... in anthem there are 3 gas station/convenient stores... the cleanest is the mobil... ya know i went there cause anthem has it's own water system as of now they do not get any water from phoenix... I was working on the pipeline and clorination vault that they will connect to the phoenix line in the next few months... I know their water is safe...but the mobil macaroon had a sign telling me their water was questionable...shezzzz I was at the time workin at the water plant... what an idiot... so I went to the station I happen to feel is way less than clean or nice... and yeah they had coffee... jezzzzzz

thursday evening on the way home it continues... I was listening to the news... wondering about the water... so what happens? I got to my turn off on time...and it took me just under 2 hours to go the last 3 miles home... fun huh? gas valve busted... yeah no gas... thursday evening... none friday... they say I might get it back on sunday... no hot water... no dryer for the clothes... no gas for the kitchen stove... and worst now... no gas for the heater... what a week... Im scared what will happen next...

Well folks this marks the begining of the end of the drugery I have endured the last 2 years... As of 10 minutes ago I accepted a new job... golly geee... it's back to the big top for me... no more friday afternoons off... no more free weekends... not much more free time... while I will miss my free time... presently I dont think I will miss the job... today I build up valve boxes and cemented them in... 1% drill and tap screws and 99% shoveling...

in fact recently I was thinking about some of the old jobs I have done... and I remember the micro and RO buildings I did for one company... they were a combined 15 million dollars of work over a 2 year period...
for another company I built clarifiers... man I did 9 of them in 18 months...
way back I built million dollar homes... I did a couple up near flagstaff in the pines... my fav was a hexagon with 2 wings... the complete roof was cut in place bastard hips...( that doesnt mean much to the average joe...but I ran a crew and we cut hundreds of rafters exactly)
then there was the super rich dude here in town... I built his house... and we cut large beams for his patio... with weird connectors recessed and hidden by morticing ... it took hours for each beam and there were hundreds... when it was done he took a bussiness card and any joint the card fit into had to be redone... after he checked there were none to be fixed... he gave me personaly a bonus... one of very few I have ever gotten...

so as I think back over 25 plus years I can rember some nifty buildings I supervised and worked on... but as I think back on the last 2 years... about all I can rememeber are the holes I dug for this company... on a sad note... my old shovel was broken a couple of weeks past... they bought me a new one and I have just gotten used to it...

sooooo while I am sure this new job will mean major headaches... I have worked with this group in the past... and I am very aware of the way things will happen... Ohh let me tell ya... but either way... this is a time of happiness for me... I need to enjoy it as long as possible... cause day one on the new job will be the end of carefree me...

and on this happy note folks.. I have 7 years, 11 months and 5 days to retirement... with luck this job will shave off a couple of years...

ohhh and on a side note... please be a little forgiving... Im sure this will disrupt my present routine so it might take me a little time before I get back in the swing of things...

presently life here isnt so bad... as long as I dont look , think, or touch a computer everything else is goin pretty well... the patio restoration is now waiting for the lumber rack repairs...

I had a full sized PU and now with the smaller version ( a ford ranger) the lumber rack doesnt fit... I gotta remake it... here goes an afternoon....

FYI we changed web hosts this week... the backup we used to restore was from a weekago sunday.. so somestuff was lost... and all I can say is sorry....
qwest had a broken dns cache server.... somewhere along the line it updated for a few hours thursday evening... but by friday morning it had restored the old dns... which is the reason I was broken...

I had some free time yesterday... so I took a shot at ETF... it looks fun... heck I might even like to give it a try... our etf server is way broken... you join it and then ya gotta reinstall to play etf... thats kinda bad... I went thru the process twice last night... and I have it narrowed down to a server issue... and foolishly I asked for assistance... how dumb can I get... in my opinion forums are not for help... they are a place for pimpled faced youngesters to try to make intelligent noise...
so folks I doubt we will resolve the etf server issue... sorry... I did what I thought I could to no avail... from what I have seen.. I have yet to see a linux server functioning...

ohh as soon as I get some stuff done.. I might give a BFV mod a shot...

recantly I have been busy around the house..... I mean manual labor.... my patio in the back yard has leaked for the last 15 years... the defect was in the way it was built.... last summer I torn it down ...
since then I have been kinda waiting for good weather... and the weather now is as good as it can get... so I have removed the nasty ol concrete and as of thirty minutes ago I finished pouring the new concrete... why is that hard.... well it might be the 4 1/2 yards I poured ... by the way weights in at some where in the neighborhood of 18 thousand pounds... all of which I transported from my truck to the back yard.... I loaded it into the truck... then moved to the backyard... then mixed it up... and placed it... so I handled each pound at least 4 times.... my achin back....

okay you soo you say I outta spend more time on the server? I was I need more nap time...

Hello happy people of the hollidays... I would like to extend some of the good cheer and good will that abounds here...
I hope you all can enjoy the wonderfull thing called life... This is a good year around here... things are a little strange... it is the first year since 1984 we didnt have house guests ... so it isnt quite the same....yet... it is nice... in a different way... for those who might remember last year we had some house guests from early november till late febuary... so like I said....
things are a little different... maybe a little weird...
but good...

ohhh the food.... it is wonderfull... my wife has out done herself yet again... she makes this thing.... it is dried fruit of all kinds... apples, pinapple, aprocots... about every kind of fruit you can dry... then cherries... and nuts... let me tell ya the nuts... pecans, walnuts...they are all over the place.... so she mixes this fruit and nuts... I mean about 30 pounds of fruits and nuts... then she adds some batter to the mix.... just enought to make it stick together.... she makes this and bakes it over the thanksgiving weekend... then.... with a cheesecloth... she wraps it up... and pours a little peach brandy on it every day... yeah it soaks up a bottle in the month before christmas... okay now that you have an idea of the goodness... it is called fruitcake...
yeah that nasty thing with the weird plastic tasting junk... my wife makes a real one... and it is great...

so we have folks for breakfast... so it is time for me to leave...
but I need to wish any and everyone that reads this a MERRY CHRISTMAS...

I am aware that "ADMIN #1" did mess with the forums... BUT I also noticed he was basicly dared...
So I ask myself what to do about this... lets just get down the the bottom line... someone who exchanges pleasentries very often with me and my family has been accused of stuff by someone I have no connection with... infact I do believe this is the first time you have comunicated with me...

I ask for folks to become involved with stuff constantly... and very few bother... "ADMIN #1" is one who does take the time... where "ETplayer" is just a name for me...
so... from my point of view... yeah "ADMIN #1" may have crossed the line... it is possible... BUT "ETplayer" is worst... he never even bothers to say jack to me... untill he has something for me to fix...

Approximately $70,000 of cash was stolen from a casino in Greensburg, Louisiana. The thieves being the clever people they are decided to put the money in weighted plastic bags and toss them into a creek. One of the bags was torn open by the local beavers and used to adorn the walls of the beaver dam. When the money was recovered none of it was torn or destroyed just neatly placed in various places inside the dam. D'OH!

$40,000 of the money has been recovered so far.

My first parent teacher conferences are tonight -- I think im going to hide underneath my desk...Nah they should go well I think.. lets hope anyway

This year I spent more time talkin to the crowd...and it was a positive experince with a couple of exceptions... we set the traffic cones out again... and I stood at the street end of the front walk... the people came and spent time just looking... I would say the average visitor spent 5 or more minutes looking and talking...

one couple had several little ones... with one in a stroller... the mommie stood in the line with the kids... and when they finished she insisted the dad go look... her comment was " that guy out did himself this year"... when dad got back he said the exact same thing... I thanked them and they looked at me funny.... then I mentioned I am "that guy" they left in a huff... weird...

f a hayek ran the mirror for a while... at one point early on he told the kids to jump 3 times to get some candy... there were maybe 6 kids that heard that... and all of them jumped in place 3 times...ya had to be there... it was completely hilarious...

on each side of the driveway I set a trashcan trap... I left the west can control up near the house... and who ever was up there could trigger it... the east can I used a X10 remote... I had a remote keyfob I used to open and close the can... while X10 is slow... after a while I got the timming down perfectly...

one young lady, she was in the 14 to 17 age range... hehehe... she noticed the trashcans then crossed the street... I asked what was wrong... she said " I know what you do... last year you made me pee my pants"... after that comment the 20 or so folks standing watching all broke out in laughter... that was one of those golden moments...

one of the neighbors came by shook my hand... thanking me... then left... about an hour later he was back... with a new group of kids... I asked if he traded families... he laffed... then told me he hunted down all his neices and nephews to show them this place... after the kids went thru the line to the mirror he rounded them up near the first trashcan... hehehe... we waited then sprung it on them... haw haw haw... after which... he took them all to the second trashcan... he calmed them down then we got em again... yet another memory burned in the halloween collection...

3 or 4 years ago... one of the early trashcan years... in the begining it was open season... no one had a clue...we would pass up some folks to make sure no one had see or heard them open... we wanted a complete surprise... we were cunning then... muhahahahaha.... well... I was out front... and aubs... my daughter was on the control... and she came by... im talkin an OLD grannie... she was wearin a grannie dress with her purse in the crook of her elbow... she walked by me... headed for the trashcan... I didnt think anything about it at first... then it hit ne she might hurt herself... Ohhh no.... I had just turned to warn her when aubs struck... she screamed... her purse flew into the street... and she ran as best as she could... I was scared.. I could see the law suit... OH no.... I helped her find the contentes of her purse... and she didnt say a single word to me... I knew I was in for it...not a word... I was truly worried... I went to the proch to shut the trashcan down... and there she was... across the street... she was talkin to the kids... it was too good to be true... she was tellin them to go to the house next door to us... this little ol grannie spent the next couple of hours direction victims past the trashcan... yet another halloween memory... she shows up every year... and makes sure I remember her... hehehehe we dont hit her with the can any more... but she sure suckers a few kids into a scare... this year was no exception... that lady spends an hour a year out front of my house with a big evil smile on her face... bless her she is my kinda lady...

while I was errecting this years event... several folks stoped and commented... there was a family in a white car that came by every evening... they stoped.. and what seemed like ten kids in the back seat pressed their noses to the windows...mom and dad both took a minute to look... they never spoke... but I was a fun part of their lives for a week... the young mom in the explorer that parked and let the kids look for 5 minutes everyday was always a happy face... the old guy from down the street never once smiled... but halloween he was parked across the street for an hour...

yet one thing I think is strangest of all... I was asked how did ya do it by 10 or more people... all of these people were carbon copies... all females in their late 30's all with kids in tow... not one male asked... I had questions about nearly everything... all from females... the first thing the women wanted to do was to see how the mirror worked... I dont get it...

ohhh and the poor neighbors...hehehehe ... they all ran out of candy early on... after they were out they turned off their lights and came over to the fun for a while... it was great...

this has been just a small cross section of the stuff that happened... in no way is it complete...I havent discribed a tenth of what went on... but I think you get the point...

I am thinkin about things that need to change... and what I wanna save for next year... who knows... I just dont wanna store it for a year not to use it again... since the trash pickup is nov 8th I gotta hurry up...

Halloween this year was kinda weird...few of the folks we invited showed up... I guess the wife and I arent very good hosts... who knows... somewhere around 25 invities showed... heck I had more folks than that ask to come... and I told em all to come on by... weird... but the TOT's ( Tricker Or Treaters ) showed up in record numbers... 400 plus... one person said more than 500... but Im not too sure of that number... either way let me take you on a pictorial jaunt around the place... I had put more efford into it than I wanna admit...so I set them out the weekend before ... and sure enought monday morning they were all gone... what can I say? i was less than happy... not to mention I was out an important part of my game plan... so I went to work remakin them... and I had to make some kinda comment... so you see it... "X marks the spot we got robbed"

http://thefunnyfarm.net/img/hw04-5.jpg just west of the walk was the monster in a box... this wasnt a winner... not like last year... under the skeleton there was a computer running the MIAB... it played a heartbeat mp3 for 2:43...then a 5 second groan... the center of the box under the giant lock and the red light would pulsate with the heartbeat... there was a air cylinder centered that made the box flex over an inch out... then back in in time with the heartbeat playing... randomly the left side of the box would lift 3 inches... and the right side was ramdom also... with random hights... it could lift as much as 8 inches... when the groan played I had both sides jumping up and down... the one time I noticed a youngester lookin close... he was maybe 5... and sure something was in there... he was bent at the waist with his nose as close as possible... when the groan started.... he screamed "Mommie !!!" and ran in to the woman huggin her leg... it was funny... the mom was laffin so hard she almost fell when he ran into her... the only fun I had with the MIAB...

I have no idea what the line in it is... the mirror isnt cracked or anything... the black light to the left was a poor attempt to cure a light issue...

I was sure I broke my back dragging it out to the street and back... let me tell ya they are heavy... after I brought it back and set it on the table... while panting like a dog... the boss asked me why I didnt use the 19 inch lcd in the mirror... DOH... it weighs nothing compaired... I had forgotten I had it...notice the laptop running the mirror program... it is sitting on top of the computer running the web cam... also notice the webcam screen... and how it is too dark to see who was at the mirror... that was a problem... then you see a white pvc pipe what was the loading end of the candy delivery system... in testing the candy bags would zoom out and hit the rim of the tray...behind the pipe was the 19 inch lcd that displayed the mirror program... what we did was to mount a mirror... then with a razor knife scraped away the mirror backing in the area we wanted the face to show thru... leaving the rest of the area a mirror... it was cool...and worked well... next year I would like to move the gold mirror frame a little and center the face letter...and add a fog chiller... even if the wind makes the fog worthless like this year... it would make the candy pickup area COLD...that will add to the effect... if I have time ... so far all we have seen is the setup... time for the people... ready?

Tonight saw another Poor Mans Clan Match battle royale between the admins and the regulars on the Railgun map. It took almost 45 minutes, but the admins pulled off a win as the Axis team. and no new problems... the stuff I use to keep the folks off the lawn is up... and sports new lights this year... the fog machines all got cleaned in and out... the first dry run on the magic mirror was better than we hoped for... it is OUTSTANDING... life is good... I have the monster in a box to deal with... after that I only have to sort out the places to plug it all in... heck it seems everything is 'letric...

Im gonna say Im ahead for the moment... but ill bet that changed when the sun comes up... we made up 160 bags of goodies...

if only the theives wouldnt take it all I would set out pumpkins tommorrow... hehehehe
maybe we should have a contest to see how many fake foam pumpkins I have and set out...

last evening I spent a couple hours puting together the trash can stuff... I completed the first last night... and after a 30 dollar trip for 2 crummy 59 cent hunks of copper... I have a few different issues with the long lenghts.. and living in the desert... no trees here to speak of...
so you ask why the title for this post? well Ill tell ya... we have a dog... sparkie the circus dog... he does a fine set of tricks... sit.. speak.. shake hands... stand... beg... roll over ( if ya got the good doggie treats)... and more I cant remember... yeah we spent some time with the wonder dog... he is mommies fav dog... he is a smart dog... very aware of stuff... like a ghost flyin in the back yard...
last year he chased the ghost till he ran the pads off his paws...hey this is a 90 pound dog unable to walk... bad bad bad... this year the boss has made it clear she thinks I will kill her dog if I let him chase it again... and tonight it would seem sparkie and I both got lucky... I shut the ghost off early... and the dog lived,... but im tellin ya he was breathing REAL heavy for quite some time...

so the ghost is goin... and the dog is alive...

Boy ohhh Boy... time seems to go by fast when I get busy... things change real fast...

the word association post is now over 10,000 entries... shezz I remember when the first one got to 1,000 and I thought it was alot...

After several weeks of searching for a mirror for of all things the magic mirror I found a usable mirror not the oval with a frame I wanted just a plain square mirror with-out a border... When all the help showed up it was build time... no time to hunt a new mirror frame... I tell ya I looked high and low for any mirror frame under $20... when an abundance of help showed up thursday we went to work... then friday we got the base coat of paint and monster mud on the wall... it looked purdy good too... as of dark yesterday the magic mirror needed cleaning and the final paint..
the boss and I stoped at a yard sale this morning... and there was the mirror frame I had been lookin for... it was exactly what I wanted... the mirror was gone... but the frame was kinda ornate and gold... the color wanted... the size was perfect... when I asked how much... the owner went into suggestion mode... she was tellin the wife and I we could hang it on a wall and stand behind it to scare the TOT's at halloween... it was too much I paid the fifty cents she wanted... so now we need to rebuild the mirror to use the nifty frame... dang...

The monster in a box is waiting for lights, fog and software....

Last weekend we went to the arizona state fair... it was a blast... go if you have the chance.. the food was wonderfull...this trip was the first time we have gone there in the last 12 or 15 years... in general the fair has changed some since our last visit... but had fun none the less... and native american rodeo was a blast to watch...

of course during this trip to the fair the wife didnt wanna bring a purse... so we drove down to the fair grounds... I stoped at a bank on the way.... gee my bank card didnt work.... I had enought cash to have a fun evening... yet it is annonying to have money in a bank and no way to access it... the next morning I went to the bank... can ya believe it.. the fraud department put a hold on my card... it would seem the malfunctioning gas pump last week would only let me have 15 cents at a time before it stoped... I tried it twice... for a grand total of 30 cents... im talkin a quarter and a nickel... that charge caused bank of america to freeze my card... it took several hours for me to get things fixed.... my comment was "what was their excuse?"... I can not imagine freezing an account with PLENTY of money in it... an account thats 20 plus years old with no other issues... sorry folks I cant imagine 30 cents as that big of a deal... I can not imagine a company that would cause me the hours of trouble over such a small amount... I can not imagine an excuse for such short sightedness.... shezz it is PAST time to find a new bank...

I have strong ties to disneyland of the 1960's... we lived in the shadow of the matterhorn... at 9 pm we would watch tinkerbell climb to the peak then the fireworks... after which it was bed time...

My dad worked on a couple of the rides... pirates of the caribbean... and the haunted mansion... I can remember seeing walt disney at a company picnic... I remember the thrill of an "E" ticket... and the blah of a "A" ticket... I can remember the live mermaids on the submarine ride... one of my favorite attractions was the lincon theater with it's animatronics... gone now like so many other things...

yet off all the things time has taken away... the one that was pointed out to me tonight is a hard thing to see pass without any discussion...

tonight was kinda fun... I didnt get to work on anything... a couple of neighborhood kids came by asking about my plans...

today I installed the liner in the monster in a box...and the testing of hardware yesterday means it is finished... all thats left is to make a cable and stake it down... Ohhh and 2 large hose clamps...Yesterdays testing was really cool... I searched for several hours... once I found it all the parts the troubles went away... I made all the connections... and sure enought it worked flawlessly... too fun...
So I pulled out some plywood ... and leaned it in front of the arch on the sidewalk to my front door... I scribbled a few lines and general ideas on the plywood... I have some good ideas but I need to work out the how-to of the candy delivery... I think the mirror will be a ton of fun...

soo I wanna make sure everyone understands... I am not requesting anything... nope not a single thing... I need no help... thanks but no thanks...

I may have spoken too soon.... maybe I do have some good luck.... just a little...
I spent the last 2 hours looking for all the control stuff... I could remember puting it all together... so I thought... I found it one hunk at a time... and ... for some silly reason I cant access any thing after 7 ports... there are 32 on there... I wonder what the deal is? so either way... I only need 6 for this project toooo I guess im not gonna sweat the others... I also found my old control 8 port circuit...

so for the noobs.... this means I can control the halloween projects via computer... I play a mp3 in winamp... and at selected points I can turn on and off a circuit... I have boxes to switch on and off 110V ac, 24 v DC and... I have relays in boxes also... which means I can move the sound output to different speakers....
I also have soleniods... they are switches that turn on and off air... I can turn on a soleniod and have it send air to a cylinder... this is a purdy good setup...

Today I found the last major items I need for halloween... The construction is booming... yesterday afternoon saw the end of the welding..( I hope)
And today I fitted the first valve soleniod block top the monster in a box... I spent over an hour rebuilding all the connectors.. and fixing leaks...once it was done there were 5 PVC 1/4 inch quick connectors for the air hoses... as I was bolting it on the mounting plate inside the box... I turned to get a wrench... and knocked it to the concrete... can you guess how many pvc connectors broke?... if you said all of them or the number 5 yer right...

dang it seems sometimes the only luck I have is bad luck...
ohh well....
with luck tommorrow will see the finish of the construction phase of the box... Gee Im tired.... I hope to start the mirror construction... which will be time consuming...

I wandered into my bedroom to do some laundry at noon today...and noticed one of the kittens playing in the pile of clothes. She loves the pile of clothes in the middle of the room. It's the highlight of her life.

However, I saw her playing in my fiances favorite silk shirt.

"Not for kitty" I say as I take it away from her.

However, I find something odd in the shirt. An old potato.

"Okay, that's weird" I say aloud to myself [and the kitten] as I go and throw out the old gross potato.

I continue to gather up laundry from the kittens favorite playground...and I find another potato.

"Okay, you stole these didn't you Critter?" I saw to the kitten who just looks at me with big green eyes.

I throw out the other potato and start the laundry.

I then hear the litter box being used, or what I thought was the litter box. I then proceed to travel over to the litter box to insure that is, in fact, what is happening.

Nope.

Critter was behind the litter box where an old bag of potatoes, from when my fiance and I moved in, is laying.

I then see Critter grab one of the potatoes, put it in her mouth, and then run into the bedroom where she proceeds to play with the old potato on top of the pile of dirty clothes.

I then threw out the bag of old potatoes.

Critter wasn't happy.

I call it voting with your paycheck... he doesnt name it yet he makes a good point...

either way.... linux doom3 is a happening thing... and as soon as I get some other stuff done it will be up..... unless we have some admin guru who wants to install it on the server?

Today is one of those days I consider a nasty day... it marks a day I set aside nearly 2 months ago...

When ID software released a doom with no linux server I said wait there is no need to be harsh.. they are cool give em a chance... well after darn near 2 months I guess I was wrong... they are too rich these days... I feel personaly betrayed... I have always had faith in the carmack machine... yet... with no mention of a linux server in the wings... ID has joined ranks with EA .... this is a sad sad day....
it really kinda sucks to have waited several years for a game only to not have it live up to the expectations... I wanted a fun multiplayer game... heck the offical version only allows 4 players online... what kinda deal is that?

I understand my voice doesnt count for jack in the world at large... and I know ID and or mister carmack could care less about this post... since these things only have meaning for me.. I will puplicly make a promise... if the linux server isnt here before halloween... I will not serve doom3... or any of it's mods...

I waited for several years to see and play D3.... and I heard dozens of times the release date would be when it is done... I took ID's word that it would be done before they turned it loose to the marketing jackels of the world... that is not the case.... no linux server means the game isnt done...

I gave my 50 plus bucks...
I didnt get quality of product ID software was capable of in the past... Thats a shame... to see the best in the bussiness sell out...

Yesterday was the first of October.. So construction begain...

I will stop construction somewhere around the 20th... that way I will have 10 or so days for software configs.. last year I aloted a week and it wasnt enough... and I was squeezed for time at the end... I dont wanna do that again...

I put alot of efford into the sound layout this year... in the past it seems something would over power the prop next to it...for example the MIAB (monster in a box) last year...I had the rat goin wonderfully... BUT the MIAB made too much noise for folks to hear the poor lil rat...


The first thing to get built this year will be the monster in a box... and I started it last night... after a bull session we have decided on everything the MIAB will do... it will have 4 air cylinders and solenoids , 2 light circuits and a battery of speakers.. the soleniods I have covered.. im thinkin I have a bank of 6 24V sittin in a box somewhere... I have 1 of the air cylinders and will have to build the other 3...

Next will be the magic mirror... I still need a couple of small items for the mirror prop...Im gonna go lookin for cheap yardsale items first... before I go pay store prices...
Then I wanna build 3 or 4 signs... lots of ideas... only time will tell if I have the energy to do it all...

As of this minute this year will require 3 computers to do all I plan on... 1 for the mirror...
another for the MIAB and one more for the general yard lighting...

I found this http://www.bluesnews.com/articles/q3a_bus_tour_report_2.shtml and it made me remember the time I spent in that bus... Yeah myself and several others were in that bus late august of 99...

I took the day off work and closed the shop to take Keet to the bus... we planed on only being there for maybe 1/2 hour... we were in the 4th or 5th group at the compusa metrocenter... while one group played they brought in the next group for a few minutes of instructions... when we got to the machines we only got 2 minutes of warmup and config time... then a race to 20 frags... I personaly knew I have some skills... but I honestly expected Keet to whoop up on all commers... thats why I took him... after they finished the instructions the group we were in was talkin trash... since I was the WAY old dude they thought it was funny I was even interested in playin...

so when we were up... I spent the majority of the time tryin to find a comfy viewing place with those apple flat screens... they didnt work for me... they seemed choppy and slow... the colors were wrong... I didnt like em at all...and I had trouble adjusting to them....

and away we went... there was a guy walkin around keepin tabs on the players... and he said the old dood is ahead... I was surprised... I didnt even notice... I slowed down ... and started to enjoy the game play... it was fun....at 15 I said what the heck and took 5 more frags in a burst... I think the closest other player was 16 to my 20... it was cool... they gave me a Q3 tshirt... and some other stuff...

when we went out side the other guys went directly to the end of the line to play another round... I said what the heck Keet... lets do it too...so we did... while outside I was one of few tshirt winners... the old dood was good... haw haw haw... when we got our second turn it was the very same crowd as the first time... and they player the same... I had no trouble ownin them... the offical guy came up to me when I was at 17 frags... and told me only 1 prize per person... I couldnt win another T... fine was my answer... I went to 19... then steped away and said someone else win it...
it was really cool watchin them bust butt... in fact it was better than playin... so Keet didnt win this time either... but the guy that did thanked me for lettin him...

back in line... when the time to go in the bus came... the same group of guys was gonna go again... BUT they decided to wait... I guess they didnt want the ol guy to whoop em again... and it was the same this time also... I had no trouble runnin to 19 then steped away again... still Keet didnt win... shezzz... we started like 10 am it is lunch time.. I wanted to eat.. so I quit after the 3rd time...

Keet stayed till 9 pm... he went through the line all day tryin to win... after his roomies got off work they went thru the line... and they each won a Tshirt... of the 8 of us that had a lan party most saturday nights, 7 won a T... Keet was the only non-winner...

that Tshirt is one of my favorites... it is the Q3 sign on a black shirt... I wore it once in vegas... and an other guy had one... he was an instant friend... we both knew the other was a worthy opponet...
funny how things like a Tshirt become markers in a life... that shirt reminds me of a shop I loved at the time... there was the lan party every saturday evening... the commradery... the fun... the pizza...

I guess tonight could be called a foul ball... the pepper ghost idea with fog on one side of the reflector didnt work... the fog stuck to the reflector ( the plexiglass pane)... and the sheen it created caused a multiple reflection... and it soaked up a ton of light.... all of which could be dealt with... but the real killer was.... the face wasnt visible untill complete darkness... usually the kids flock from 5 till 8 or 9.... thats only 3 to 4 hours total... I dont wanna lose 1 minute due to poor visibility...

While Im sure we could get a pepper ghost and magic mirror to work together, if we stuck it out... time is running out... so we are gonna do the monitor with little or no major difference from the site. http://homepage.mac.com/nephilim/imagineerieing/magic_mirror.html

If you want to post, keep this in mind. And also remember, this is Lazz’s place, and we all agree to his rules, if you can’t then leave. But PLEASE show the respect he deserves, or we will show you the door.

There have been some resent posting done that people should no better. Use common sense and if you can’t contribute to this place the least you can do is not try and take it down.

This year I want to add a remote control to the trash cans... which means I need a transmitter and a reciever... I would like a transmitter about the size of the remote I have for the car... so I looked and there are several out there... now it is time to buy...

I spent an hour walkin in our local FRY's electronics... I live less than a mile from the new one... which can be bad... I hate to say this but the average FRY's sales person leaves something to be desired... ( here comes a law suit)....

I first looked online to see what there was... and it would seem the X10 solution was the easiest way out... BUT it is slow... and clunky sometimes... for example... it might react instantly... or delay about a second..

Either way I searched the store and found the X10... but I had a dream they would have a nifty UHF dealie... hey I wanted the cool stuff... I found a IR transmitter and reciever... but that would limit the distance ... I wanted the radio stuff... it would be cool to put the transmitter in my pants pocket and use it from there...

so I know they have 2 solutions... I was brave... and asked a sales person... who answered in a way I liked... this person said... " I dont know of anything like that... ask the computer folks it is in their department"
